Ralph was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. Her father, Stanley Ralph, was a college professor and her mother, Ivy Ralph OD, was a Jamaican fashion designer who made the Kariba suit. Michael Ralph, who acts and makes people laugh, is her younger brother. A DNA test revealed that she is partially related to the Tikar people of Cameroon. She grew up in both Jamaica (Mandeville) and Long Island (Long Island). Ralph attended high school in Uniondale, New York at Uniondale High School.
