Mexican reality series Forever Queens, also known as Siempre Reinas, is available on Netflix. The show focuses on well-known figures in Mexican culture such as Luca Méndez, Sylvia Pasquel, Laura Zapata and Lorena Herrera. The four ladies have made a name for themselves in the Mexican entertainment industry for their diverse talents. The show follows the four characters as they get to know each other better and embark on a new adventure together. Aside from the time the ensemble spends together, viewers also get a glimpse into the individual lives of the cast, including the challenges they face in their personal lives and in their careers.
The show’s first season explores how the four different icons eventually came to work together. Forever Queens Journey by Lucía Mendez and Laura Zapata
In the first episode of the first season of Forever Queens, Luca Leticia Méndez Pérez, better known by her stage name Luca Méndez, and Laura Guadalupe Zapata Miranda, better known by her stage name Laura Zapata, met for the first time. Although they knew each other before the show, Sylvia Pasquel, who played a role in bringing the two together, was a more familiar face to both. The two people quickly hit it off and became excellent friends. In fact, Lucia and Laura stole the show during their singing performance during the group’s evening at the bar where they met Lorena Herrera.
The four girls caught the attention of José Luis Roma, a music producer. José Luis Roma is a close friend of Lorena and had accompanied Lorena to the pub. Via Lorena, José Luis proposed a musical venture that would center on all four women and highlight their iconic personalities. However, when it came time to record the song, Lucia was not satisfied with either the notes chosen or the musical style used. She told José Luis the same, assuring that she would not sing anything that did not suit her.
The music producer told Lorena what had happened and Lorena was the one to bring up the subject when the four women next got together. Luca added that she doesn’t want to compromise her signature look and what makes her recognizable to others in any way. The singer explained that she doesn’t want to deviate from her established sound as she doesn’t want to confuse her fans around the world. She then proceeded to compare all four ladies’ followers on Spotify, having previously obtained their respective Spotify followers. This sparked the argument Luca and Laura would have, with Laura claiming that Luca was allowing her ego to get in the way of a potentially amazing project. Because of this, the quarrel began.
Luca had revisited the subject of her issues with José Luis in the period leading up to their eventual meeting as four friends. The record producer made the decision to go in a different direction and sent the artists an updated demo for them to hear. After Laura listened to the new song, Lucia tried to apologize to her for her comments from the previous night. She explained that she just wanted to point out the stats and that as an artist she’s trying to stick to the strategies that she knew have been successful in the past. Because of this, the two got into another altercation, which quickly became heated.
Luca explained that the only reason she wanted the project to be improved was because she just wanted it, but Laura explained that Luca is no longer a member of the project because she allegedly quit. As a result, Luca stormed out of the conference, claiming that the words Laura made offended her and that the conflict was never about her ego. The fact that Luca ended up recording her part for the new song doesn’t change the fact that tensions between the two weren’t resolved at all, as revealed during the filming of the song’s music video.
