As a child, Midthunder developed an interest in acting, and she often memorized and recited lines from her favorite television shows. However, she did not like her early experiences as an actress and this prompted her to take some time off before returning to the stage. During this hiatus, it occurred to her to pursue a career in makeup, where she had previously worked as an intern, or in mixed martial arts, where she had previously trained and taught Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Her first success was the film Sunshine Cleaning, which was released in 2008. After starring in a number of productions filmed in New Mexico, Midthunder finally moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 to pursue further acting opportunities.
