Someone who makes me laugh, surprises me and has their own life that they want to share with me. I loathe relationships where one party is just the shadow of the other, you know?
Most films are made in Hollywood and I would like to work there. However, I don’t feel like I have to live in America, make films and become famous just because the money is there. I enjoy producing films that tell stories that are important to me. I hope one day America can make a movie like Y Tu Mama.

Diego Luna on his stay in Mexico

I still own a house there. In fact, I’m acting in a play called The Complete Works of William Shakespeare while I’m there. Whenever the opportunity arises, I travel to Mexico to participate. This year has been a little hectic for me. I have not spent time in my own nation.

I had the opportunity to work with my best friend and a filmmaker that I really like and it was the best film I’ve ever been in. It’s also the one I love the most. After that, I gained a lot of confidence in my job.
I haven’t gone to college, so every time I work I kind of seek a teacher. Not only do I want to work with people I admire, I’m also looking for people to learn from.
But I’m not a dancer. I’m just dancing a routine. If you wanted me to do something different, it would take me two more months, but I can do what you see in the movie Havana Nights.
I’m not good at dancing. I have to get incredibly drunk before I can see that beautiful woman over there. It was a technique for me to approach a woman without having to talk to her since she would run away every time I did. So dancing was an opportunity to keep them close.

It can be incredibly powerful to do something tiny with all of your heart. Your world can change as a result. Thanks to this film, I was able to work in Spain and Hollywood, and it also attracted attention, allowing me to do interviews in a country that is not my own. The fact that you couldn’t imagine that this film was made in America is one of the reasons why it was so successful here, I think.

It’s simple: to be loved and to have someone to love. and the opportunity to work with people I respect. Those are my top priorities.
Meeting kids who got the name Diego because of me when I was asked what happened to him since he became famous. It’s like, “Oh, why are you doing that? If you’re a fan, it’s your problem, but it’s not your son’s problem.

I lied a lot when I was quite young. I’m getting paid for that now. I discover facets that are missing in my everyday life. For example, I had to perform a sexual scenario before engaging in one. It was my first experience of love when I was 13, 14 and there were 25 people in front of me. Theater is therapy. It helps you stay in touch with your emotions.
If being a sex symbol involves a lot of sex, then I’m glad I’m one. But I’m not real. That never happens.

There were so many great women who told me about the guys who broke their hearts growing up in the theater. And I kept wishing I was.
