Chris Flores, a 37-year-old athletic trainer charged with sexually assaulting two children, was taken into custody by Santa Ana police on Friday.
Chris Flores, commonly known as “Coach Frogg”, co-founded STARS Prep Academy in Southern California in 2017 with former NFL player Jason David.
One of the most disgusting things I have ever heard is this poor girl being pressured by this idiot #ChrisFlores.
I feel so uncomfortable just hearing her voice.
Tell me I’m not the only one who gets occasional flashbacks from various childhood events.
According to the authorities, Chris Flores is said to have physically abused two young people he cared for at the facility. However, Santa Ana Police believe there could be more victims.
The Complete Story of Chris Flores
Chris Flores’ reputation in the sports world stems mainly from his work as a young coach where he was known for his efficient teaching techniques.
Flores met a number of NFL stars after enrolling at STARS Prep Academy, including DJ Uiagalelei, Adoree Jackson, Juju Smith-Schuster and Bryce Young. Santiago Middle School in Orange County served as the program’s headquarters. More than 100 young athletes have registered.
Chris Flores fiercely denied the allegations, emphasizing his reputation as a well-known figure in the neighborhood, according to Edward Welbourn, the attorney defending him.
Added Welbourn:
“Chris has worked for many years as a coach, actually as a teacher and mentor with youth in the community and he is genuinely shocked by all of these allegations that have surfaced.”
He went on:
“He vehemently denies having any inappropriate association or interaction with any current or former athlete, pupil or student. He was just trying to help young people and advance their lives and careers.”
However, the authorities offer a different version of events, claiming that Flores abused his position as coach to prey on young women. On August 5, audio recordings of a party revealed that a man believed to be the youth coach tried to date a 14-year-old girl, prompting the start of investigations into Flores’ alleged conduct.
According to CBS, a male voice can be heard in the recording asking the teen to FaceTime. The voice asks the girl not to refuse him after she refuses.
A man’s voice said:
“We talked about it, man. You need to stop using the Nooos.”
In 2021, the girl claimed Flores attacked her more than once.
The Santa Ana Police Department said in an official press release that it has reason to believe Flores may have been a potential serial offender due to his role as a youth coach.
The explanation was:
Santa Ana Police Department detectives believe Flores may have exploited more people while working as a trainer, who had access to many children and teenagers.
Jason David has criticized Flores’ actions in a formal statement.
He explained:
“I feel ill. I am repulsed. I am angry.”
He said this in reference to the alleged victims of Flores:
According to ABC, Flores was previously jailed after being accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman in 2009. He was acquitted of the charges.
