Days after the death of ex-wife Anne Heche, Ellen DeGeneres is celebrating 14 years of marriage to Portia de Rossi
Ellen previously praised her wife for inspiring her to keep going after reports of a hostile work environment on the show discouraged her.
California’s Los Angeles On August 16, TV personality Ellen DeGeneres, 64, and wife Portia de Rossi, 49, celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. In 2008, Ellen married the actress in California and left the actress a message on Instagram on Tuesday. She posted a compilation video featuring adorable and humorous exchanges between Portia from The Ellen DeGeneres Show and herself.

The video shows a couple competing in a game to pick apples while clearly in love. The comedian once described Portia as her “rock.”
After a tragic car accident in Mar Vista, California that left her crashing into an apartment building, Ellen’s ex-girlfriend Anne Heche died after being taken off life support just days before the TV host and Portia’s anniversary.
In 2020, after former employees of Ellen’s television program accused producers of creating a hostile work environment, Ellen thanked her wife for inspiring her to keep going. “I couldn’t have endured anything I did without her and it crushed my heart. She was a rock during this difficult time in my life. She encouraged me and tried to help me put things in perspective,” Ellen said. They are now adept at reassuring each other about their growing intimacy. “We’ve matured together as a couple, and we really value and prioritize our union. You’ll get a lot more solid if you do it. I can’t imagine being with anyone other than her,” Portia argued. Ellen responded by saying, “We finish each other’s sentences — no, sandwiches — while thinking and saying the same thing. We are in a smooth rhythm right now.”
After Anne passed away, Ellen posted a message of condolences on her Instagram story. It read: “It’s a depressing day. All my love goes out to Anne’s children, family and friends.” From 1997 to 2000, Anne and Ellen dated. Heche’s bio is said to cost around $750 following her tragic death.
After her death at the age of 53, the 2001 book Call Me Crazy, written by the late celebrity, was loved by friends and admirers alike. The book, which originally cost $26 and was published by Scribner more than 21 years ago, is currently being sold as a collector’s item on Amazon, according to Entertainment Tonight. Depending on the retailer, the book costs between 739 and 949 US dollars.
The star’s struggles with mental illness as she tried to adjust to her life in the limelight are highlighted in the bio. It also discusses the trauma she suffered as a child when she was attacked and her widely publicized past relationship with DeGeneres. Heche announced her desire to release a new book called Call Me Sane during a farewell interview with the Behind the Velvet Rope podcast.
She described the book she was planning as the complete opposite of “Call Me Crazy” and would have shared her life journey as she survived abuse and trauma as a youngster while counseling others how to deal with the circumstances in their own way should. “It’s the practice of how to overcome abuse and how to begin the process of living in love with yourself that is engaging with others, and living in love with compassion so that you can present yourself fully to others,” Anne said .
The podcast was recorded in January but wasn’t released until August 14, two days after her death. Under California law, the actress was presumed clinically dead after suffering severe neurological damage, but her family decided to delay turning off her ventilator until the organ donors were notified.
