Throughout his professional life, he received tremendous support and encouragement from his adoptive parents and siblings. In 1987, when Colin was just five weeks old, Rick and Teresa Kaepernick became his adoptive parents.
At the time, the family—comprising the couple, along with their children Kyle and Devon—called the town of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin home. Shortly after giving birth, Rick and Teresa lost two children to congenital heart defects.

Devon Kaepernick is the name of Colin Kaepernick’s sister. Who is she?
Colin Kaepernick’s older sister is Devon Kaepernick. Like her other brother, Kyle, she is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where she received her engineering degree.
In a 2011 interview with the Turlock Journal, Rick Kaepernick, the father of Colin, Devon and Kyle Kaepernick, confessed that he didn’t cry when Colin graduated from college. Devon and Kyle Kaepernick are also professional soccer players. On the other hand, he broke down in tears when the San Francisco 49ers picked Colin.

Colin Kaepernick was put up for adoption with Rick and Teresa Kaepernick, a white couple, when he was just five weeks old. His biological mother Russo gave him up for adoption. The couple’s two biological children, Kyle and Devon, were born.
The Kaepernicks made the decision to adopt a child after the loss of their two biological sons to heart disease. There isn’t much information about Kyle to be found online as he is very selective about who he shares his personal information with.

Most of Kaepernick’s high school honors came from his accomplishments as a pitcher. He received many scholarship opportunities in this field, but he preferred to play college football. [18] Kaepernick received only a football scholarship from the University of Nevada, Reno, and committed to Nevada in February 2006.
In 2007, Kaepernick joined the Wolf Pack as a backup quarterback, attending 11 of the team’s 13 games. He had a 53.8% completion rate and finished the season with 2,175 passing yards, 19 passing touchdowns and three interceptions. Nevada finished 6-7 thanks to Kaepernick’s 593 running yards and six rushing touchdowns.
As a sophomore, Kaepernick accumulated 1,130 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns in addition to 2,849 throwing yards, 22 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions. He was only the sixth player in NCAA history to pass for 2,000 yards and sprint for 1,000 yards or more in the same season. He was the game’s MVP at the Humanitarian Bowl, although his team lost because of his 370 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, two interceptions, and 15 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Kaepernick received the WAC Offensive Player of the Year award after the game. Because Marshall Faulk of San Diego State received this honor in 1992, he was the first sophomore to do so. He accomplished a feat unmatched by any other quarterback in Division I FBS college football history by becoming the first quarterback to pass 10,000 yards and sprint for 4,000 yards in the same career. He also shared the record for the fastest career touchdowns by a quarterback in FBS history with former Nebraska quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch.
