The San Antonio Spurs announced they hired Ginóbili as their special adviser on basketball operations on September 24, 2021.
On September 10, 2022, Ginóbili was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, becoming the 12th former San Antonio Spurs player to do so. During the 1998 FIBA World Championship in Athens, Ginóbili, a member of the Argentina national basketball team, made his senior debut.
