In the first episode of the third season of “Mob Psycho 100” or “Mob Psycho III” titled “Future Career Paths”, the students of Shio Junior High School are asked to think carefully about their plans for the future.
Despite trying his best, Mob feels he has no idea what his future holds. Serizawa and Mob become deeply concerned about their own future when they are given an exorcism order to help a middle-aged man who has been living an aimless life and regrets it. Here’s what you need to know about the ending of the first episode of Mob Psycho III.
Mob Psycho III Season 3 Episode 1
The students at Shio Junior High School have to think about what they want to do in the future, so Mob’s friends and classmates talk seriously about their plans. Most of them seem very confident about having their lives planned out, but Mob is really lost. He goes to the Ghosts and Such Counseling Office to speak with Reigen about the same issue.
Reigen thinks Mob doesn’t have to think too much because being a psychic is already his true calling. However, Mob is not sure because it is only a part-time job. Though Reigen tries to reassure him that the Spirits and Such Consultation Office has a good chance of growing into something bigger in the future, Mob isn’t convinced. Soon, a customer walks into the office with an 80,000 yen doll that he believes is cursed for bringing him bad luck.
Reigen says the customer needn’t worry, but Mob tells him not to touch the doll because a long-standing grudge has poisoned it. When Reigen finds out, he tells Serizawa that he was just testing him and orders him to get rid of the doll. It is interesting that the second person repairs the puppet slightly, but breaks one of the puppet’s arms, then repairs the dance.
That evening, Mob talks to his family about how he feels about his career choice. His father and brother agree with him, but his mother thinks their ideas are too simple. The next day, Serizawa, Mob, and Reigen go to the house of a middle-aged man who says he is cursed by an evil spirit that no psychic has been able to get rid of. He then says that the evil spirit fired him from his part-time job for inappropriately touching a co-worker. It made his girlfriend leave him and gave him cavities.
The client is concerned that they will continue to live a meaningless life and will never find their true calling or make real connections with other people. With Mob and Serizawa listening intently, Reigen goes outside and sees an evil spirit growing right over the house. He goes straight back to his friends and tells them about it. Mob and Serizawa move quickly to get rid of the ghost and the client thanks them for their help.
After they exorcise the old man’s spirit, Serizawa looks very worried, so Reigen asks him if something is wrong. He says that the old man’s confessions really hit home, and he now feels like he’s in the same boat as the old man. Reigen quickly tells him that he won’t be able to stay in business long if he keeps this up. He then tells Serizawa that he hasn’t even lived half of his life, so he still has plenty of time to become famous.
Reigen thinks it’s good that Serizawa has seen his wrong decisions hurt him so quickly. But Mob says he was touched by the old man’s story too. After spending so much time contemplating his future career options, he is now very concerned about the future. He admits he hasn’t made any major mistakes yet, but he believes that day will come eventually.
Later, Mob meets Reigen at the Spirits and Such Consultations Office and tells him that he doesn’t see Reigen working there in the future. He goes on to say that he’s too comfortable there, which will likely keep him from growing in the future. Mob doesn’t have to worry about his future right now, Reigen tells him. He is sure that Mob will find many things to do in the future, so he shouldn’t worry too much.
Mob is urged by Reigen to remember that he started the Bureau of Spirits and Such Consultations on a whim, but that he now plans to do so for the rest of his life. He ends his career advice for Mob by telling him that no matter what he wants to do in the future, he doesn’t have to work in an office. But he could also just live his own life and make money at the same time.
After years of waiting, Mob Psycho 100 is finally back. People think this action packed and beautifully animated anime series is one of the best and Episode 1 of this new season shows that the high quality will last.
The show is about a kind hearted but shy middle school student with psychic powers on the plane of the end of the world. The first episode of this season goes back to the show’s simple roots, with Mob helping Reigen with his psychic affairs.
But the episode does a good job of building suspense for the rest of the season while still being as funny as ever. Before we continue, a little spoiler alert for Mob Psycho 100!

Mob Psycho 100 goes back to what made it fun in the beginning
Let’s start at the beginning, or more precisely, the beginning. Mob Psycho 100 is known for its psychedelic opening credits. This season’s opening song, “1”, performed by Mob Choir, may not be as good as the previous ones, but it’s still worth checking out.
The new season takes place not long after Season 2 ended. In Season 2 there was a huge psychic battle that took place across town, ending with a giant broccoli growing in the middle of town. However, this first episode puts that part aside and begins with a simpler adventure between Mob, Reigen and Serizawa, a new psychic who has just been hired.
The episode follows them as they go from job to job helping people who believe demons have taken over their lives. It’s always funny how the show combines mental obsession and bad luck in general. A customer thinks the statue he bought brought him bad luck. It turns out the statue is haunted, but he was also tricked into paying more than 10 times the price for it, showing his bad luck already. The show stands out from other psychic-based shows because of these funny twists.
Of course, as so often, the round dance is the best part of the episode. We see not one, but two of his “special moves,” and the fact that he can still convince people he’s a psychic is a bit that should be getting old by now, but kinda isn’t.

What is to come will be hinted at in the new season
Reigen is also still the heart of the show, giving mob advice that’s both heartfelt and funny.
The episode’s emotional turmoil, which stems from Mob not knowing what to do with his future as he’s about to graduate middle school, deftly ties into what appears to be the season’s larger plot: the Fear of an uncertain future and how mistakes can change it. We can see this in one of the main gang’s clients, and we can also see it in Serizawa, who just joined Reigen’s team after leaving an evil group at the end of last season. As always, the series is able to explore its own themes by making full use of its characters.
Not only that, but this theme is also showcased at the end of the episode when several people around town look up at the broccoli with what can only be described as baleful awe. This will definitely become a problem for Mob and the rest of the gang in the future.
It may be too early to say for sure, but based on the first episode, it looks like Mob Psycho 100 will hit three straight home runs and we can’t wait to see what happens in the new season happened.
The Japanese anime series Mob Psycho 100 is based on the manga series by One of the same name. The anime version was made by Bones and Yuzuru Tachikawa was responsible for it. The screenplays were written by Hiroshi Seko, the characters were designed by Yoshimichi Kameda, and the music was written by Kenji Kawai. The show ran on Tokyo MX from July 12, 2016 to September 27, 2016. For Season 1, Mob Choir sang the opening song called “99” and ALL OFF sang the closing song called “Refrain Boy”. The show aired simultaneously on Crunchyroll and Funimation. Bang zoom! Entertainment was responsible for creating the English dub. On April 18, 2019, Funimation and Crunchyroll confirmed that Season 2 will air simulcast on April 25.
The anime show will have a second season and the staff and cast will be back to play their roles. From January 7 to April 1, 2019, Mob Psycho 100 II aired simultaneously on television and Crunchyroll.
Mob Psycho 100 III, as the third season is called, is already in the works. The first show was on October 6, 2022. Season 3’s simuldub was supposed to be powered by Crunchyroll instead of Bang Zoom! be made, and some roles should be changed. This was because Crunchyroll decided to shift dub production to in-person recording sessions at their Dallas-based studio, rather than remote recording, which was the primary use before the COVID-19 pandemic. Mob’s voice actor, Kyle McCarley, said he probably wouldn’t return to the role because Crunchyroll wouldn’t be in talks with his union, SAG-AFTRA, about a possible union deal for future anime voice productions. McCarley had offered to work union-free for Season 3 while Crunchyroll spoke to SAG-AFTRA. Since that didn’t happen, McCarley likely won’t be coming back. Because of this news, many people on social media were upset with Crunchyroll.
