The MLB team Giants hired Pete as their new general manager on Monday. He will work under Farhan Zaidi, President of Baseball Operations.
He will take over from Scott Harris, who left the company last month to become the Tigers’ new president of baseball operations.
Three years ago, Pete, who was born and raised in Carmichaels, was one of the last candidates for the Giants’ general manager job, which went to Harris instead.
When the position became vacant, Zaidi immediately hired Putila. She punched “a handful” of other people who came in for the interview.
