A recent Korean drama titled The Interest of Love explores the concept of bank employees seeking love and comfort in their workplace by focusing on their attempts to do both. But is it successful or does it fall short of expectations? let’s find out
Yoo Yeon-seok, best known for his role in Hospital Playlist, plays the role of Ha Sang-su, a handsome KCU Bank executive whose only redeeming quality is that he’s an ice hockey player.
On the other hand, Mun Ka-young plays the role of Ahn Soo-young, a bank clerk known for his complicated family history.
Keum Sae Rok plays the role of Park Mi-kyung, the new deputy manager, while Jung Ga-ram portrays Jeong Jong Hyun, the bank’s security guard who is studying to become a police officer.
Both roles take place simultaneously. The show explores love and depicts a bank teller’s day-to-day difficulties through the lens of a microlens, though it runs too many stories in parallel.
The show’s script seems predictable and formulaic, with character arcs based on specific archetypes.
A bank teller who can’t show his affection for the girl he loves, the girl who acts like he doesn’t care, and the extreme embarrassment that develops between the two. This is a scenario that has been told many times in Korean dramas, with much deeper character development.
The interest of love: action
While the celebrity cast and performances are outstanding, the script isn’t nearly as strong, which seriously undermines it. When working from a particular script, an actor has limited creative freedom. Yoo Yeon-seok is a great actor and he does a great job playing the role of Ha Sang-su.
However, his performance alone is not enough to get audiences interested in his character. The same goes for Mun Ka-young, who fails to arouse sympathy for Ahn Soo-young in the audience.

The concert moves at an icy slow pace, and there aren’t nearly enough intense moments to make the duration worthwhile.
The episodes are over an hour long, but there’s not nearly enough action to justify that length. The quality of the show’s music has been below average so far. It’s possible we won’t see major improvements in the show until the upcoming episodes air, but getting back to it immediately seems like a tough proposition.
The program does a good job of capturing the aesthetic of the business world, which is one of the things it does well. However, the novel isn’t nearly as interesting when adjusted to its most basic level.
