The Tomb Raider franchise has suffered a significant setback since MGM's ownership over the film rights was lost.
MGM apparently had until May of this year to renew the rights to another movie after the 2018 origin story reboot, but that has not happened.
Graham King's GK Films now owns the video game's rights.
This also means that Alicia Vikander won't be reprising her role as Lara Croft, which is terrible.
Even the Tomb Raider movie from 2018 made $274 million worldwide.
This approach likely resulted in the loss of Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander, which is undoubtedly a significant letdown.
