A convicted murderer was also the target of new charges. Despite his rejection, the latest court decision considers him a murderer and sex offender.
Hopkins was killed when Neubaum fired a single shot into Hopkins’ forehead with a 12-gauge shotgun. On May 20, 2021, she was found guilty, and many things followed.

The Mapleton Police Department determined that Joseph Hopkins was murdered because Jaylee Neubaum shot him. His family will soon be announcing the details of the obituary.
But the death wasn’t an accident. According to reporting from The Talks Today, the convicted killer, who was only 17, killed John in Mapleton, Iowa.
Two people had an argument while working in a car repair shop. Hopkins was fatally shot by Neubaum during the argument and was ultimately charged with second-degree murder.
While building a dynamite derby car with two other boys, the victim was once shot. The defense attorney claimed his client accidentally fired the gun.
According to the court documents, Neubaum shot Hopkins because he got angry at him for messing around with a blank shotgun. Both were disturbed by the other, which eventually led to a conflict.
The incident took place on Deborah Neubaum’s property, and in exposing her grandson to the gun, she acted recklessly.

Hopkins was fatally shot on May 20, 2021, and his killer, Jaycee Neubaum of Mapleton, Iowa, was found guilty of the crime.
Neubaum was convicted of 10 counts of sexual assault in June 2021. Hopkins’ body was found by the Mapleton Police Department on January 31, 2020.
They noted that Neubaum told the victim he was going to retrieve a loaded gun, which he then pointed at himself while the victim fired an empty lever-action shotgun.
If Jaycee is found responsible for the sexual abuse of two girls in June 2022, he faces an additional 30 years in prison. He probably won’t be released until 2042.

Jaylee Neubaum was sentenced to fifty years in prison and is currently being held at Anamosa State Penitentiary.
He was initially found guilty by the jury of first-degree murder but was later found guilty on additional counts. Jaylee was also billed a $150,000 fee for the Joseph Hopkins property.
A second-degree offender is often sentenced to at least 35 years in prison. Because Neubaum was a child, the jury found him guilty on lesser charges, according to the Sioux City Journal.
In June 2021, Neubaum was held accountable for sexual assault. He is currently under investigation in Monona County for third-degree sexual assault after six girls were attacked, which was the cause.
