With Christmas just around the corner, she suddenly lost her ability to see clearly. She visited the optician who lived in the apartment below her. Noticing that her left eye was bleeding, the optometrist advised her to see a doctor immediately.
She claimed in an interview that the blood vessels surrounding her eye bled into the center of the retina, filling it with blood and clogging the blood arteries that should have carried the blood out of the eye. The entire center of vision was obscured.
However, she had a problem with her eye for a few months before it worsened to the worst point. When the doctor found out she had a retinal vein occlusion, she warned them it could get worse.
When her left eye developed serious problems, she openly said she didn’t want to go to sleep out of concern that if she turned off the light, she wouldn’t be able to see it again.
She took two weeks vacation. Luckily her right eye is working fine, although her left eye is going blind. She even gave Walter the name of her left eye. She couldn’t cry because crying made the situation worse.
She had to change her way of life, but she also told herself that she had to fight because things could get worse if she didn’t.
