The person who admitted guilt in the 2017 murder of Jordan Cooper with mental defects was sentenced on March 25, 2022. Joe Arthur Turner, 31, was taken into custody on December 29, 2017. Cops said Turner and Cooper lived on the same property block.

What happened to Joe Turner?
Joe Turner was sentenced to 55 years in prison by Judge Steven Whittington on Friday, March 20, 2022. On March 10, 2022, Turner pled guilty to second-degree murder, sexual molestation and burglary with an assault.
The state’s potential to seek the death penalty was eliminated by its guilty plea. Turner has also been classified as a sexual predator.
Cooper’s father discussed his feelings following the court ruling in an exclusive interview with Jax outside the Clay County Courthouse.
“I’m satisfied,” remarked Jeff Cooper. In any case, 55 years is a lifetime. Four years after her death, he told Action News Jax that he still struggles to make sense of it. It’s just one of those things that happened and I’m having trouble understanding it. In fact, that was probably the hardest part for me.
Jordan has been called the “brightest star” and the “love of his life” by her father Jeff. He was one of several of Jordan’s family who stood to speak as the perpetrator finished his sentence.
The killer, Joe Turner, also spoke at the sentencing hearing. He apologized for his actions in front of Cooper’s family members.
He told Cooper’s father and brother, “Nothing I can say or do will ever bring Jordan back. “I just wanted to apologize. Please convey your regrets to Todd and Jeff. I apologize.
Jordan Cooper case update and murder
The 25-year-old woman had the intellectual capacity of a young teenager, according to Jordan’s family. On November 26, 2017, her mother notified the Clay County Sheriff’s Office that she was missing. The local police then launched an extensive search operation.
Two weeks later, detectives found Cooper dead and were uncovering a home’s attic insulation. Her clothes and blankets were found near her body, but her underwear was not. They also discovered a used patch.
According to the coroner, Cooper had wounds and scrapes on his legs, neck and chest. Cooper died of asphyxiation, according to an autopsy, and a sexual assault toolkit was acquired.

While the hunt for a culprit continued, Turner was the only person interested in a separate investigation into burglary and grand theft. Turner was taken into custody by police in December 2017 on the charges.
When the police searched the attic where he was hiding at the time, they found a bag of women’s clothing and a pair of women’s underwear.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement executed a search warrant and removed the underpants for inspection. The underwear’s DNA matched Cooper’s.
Turner’s DNA also matched samples from the patch and sexual assault kit. Turner was sent to prison based on the result of the test.
