On Sunday evening, authorities said a car containing human remains was found in a lake in California near where Kiely Rodni was last suspected.
Adventures With Purpose, a private group of divers, confirmed the find Sunday afternoon in Prosser Lake, about 35 miles west of Reno, Nevada.
Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Representative Andrew Trygg said investigators were at the scene late Sunday afternoon trying to determine if Rodni was driving the car.
The nearby Placer County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that the dive team had said there was a body inside, but they said they didn’t know who died.
Kiely Rodni’s car and body were found near Prosser Creek Reservoir
There was to be a press conference on Monday morning. In a statement, Adventures With Purpose said it found a car still in the lake.
When asked why they were so sure that what they found was related to the missing persons case, the team didn’t immediately answer.
The team said it was found in water that was 14 feet deep. Adventures With a Purpose’s Doug Bishop said sonar imaging technology was used to make the find. It was made about 300 meters from the campsite.
Police tried to locate Kiely Rodni’s 2013 Honda CR-V. When the car was pulled out of the lake Sunday night, it was quickly covered with what appeared to be sheets or a tarp.
Kiely and the car disappeared after her phone sent the last message at 00:30 on August 6. Authorities were worried about a possible kidnapping and kept pointing out that there were many young people at the party.
A dive team from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office searched the lake Thursday after a dive team from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office searched the lake Tuesday. The search for the teenage girl lasted more than two weeks.
When Kiely Rodi’s family and parents heard the news, they were saddened
Kiely Rodni was last seen on August 6 near a campground north of Truckee, California, where she was at a party with more than 100 other people.
The campsite is on a promontory that juts out into the lake. There is a lake shore in almost every direction.
In a statement released Saturday, her family said she wanted to stay out of the spotlight for a while.
“As we tell each other to take deep breaths and take care of ourselves, we recognize that we need a private, quiet space to begin healing and find our footing before stepping into tomorrow,” reads it in the statement.
According to what her family has said, when she comes back they will all celebrate and get along again. They will always love their daughter Rondi.
What’s new on Kiely Rodni’s boyfriend?
Before Kiely Rodni went missing last Saturday morning after leaving a party at a California campground, her boyfriend Jagger Westfall told her to “be careful and not do anything stupid”.
On Wednesday, Jagger said on Fox40 that he doesn’t know where she is. He said he had no news at the moment but was sure she was alive and well. Then he said he was sure his Kiely would get there safely.
Jagger said he told Kiely about his bad day in a follow-up message, and a few hours later Kiely texted him.
Westfall said that she replied to his texts at 10:30 p.m. and then he didn’t hear from her again.
It’s not clear where her boyfriend was when he sent the messages. Westfall’s confession came at the same time the Placer County Sheriff’s Office released a picture of the sweatshirt Rodni wore to the party where she went missing on Wednesday.

Update on Kiely Rodni missing
California authorities are asking hundreds of people who went to a high school graduation party in PLACER County over the weekend to help locate a girl who disappeared after the party. Kiely Rodni, who just graduated from high school with honors, has not been seen since she went with other teens and young adults to a party at Prosser Family Campground in the Tahoe National Forest near the California-Snowfall border. The police have already received more than 100 tips, it is said. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that Rodni was a white female, who was 5’7″ tall, weighed 115 pounds, had blonde hair and had hazel eyes. She is said to have “various piercings and jewellery, including a nose ring.” The last time anyone saw her she was wearing green Dickies pants, a black tank top and other things. Detectives from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office say they last saw Rodni at the party on Saturday, August 6, around 12:30 p.m. They treat it as if the person was taken away. Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, Rodni’s mother, is now asking for help to find her daughter ahead of her birthday next month. She also spoke about how Rodni’s younger brother is dealing with her being kidnapped. Lindsey told the US Sun, “Kiely’s birthday is September 1st and she still didn’t know what she wanted to do.” She said, “I just want her to come home.” Rodni was preparing for that, for that to go to nearby Sierra College, and Lindsey said she didn’t know if she wanted to study music or medicine. Lindsey says he started playing the violin at a young age. Growing up, he also learned to play the piano, guitar, ukulele, and mandolin. Lindsey said the things that keep her going during the increasingly tough wait are love, support, family and community. It goes in and out of your lungs. It’s a bit like Zen Buddhism’s notion of acceptance. Every time I come in there are still people here.
Lindsey said she’s trying to stay safe for her family, which includes Rodni’s younger brother, Shep’s younger brother, who is 8 years old. “He’s sticking to his faith and doing pretty well,” Lindsey said of the young man. “Being only eight, there’s a fine line between being old enough to understand what’s going on and young enough not to feel every emotion all the time. We are very fortunate to have such great friends and family close by. Lindsey told Rodni about the last thing they said to each other before he left. ABC News says Lindasey’s daughter told him she would be leaving the party in about 45 minutes and going “straight home.” “I told her I loved her and would take care of her. “She said, ‘She’s fine mom, and I love you too,'” Lindsey said. Angela Musallam, who works in public relations for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, said that Rodni’s phone was “almost impossible to find” after the death. The next morning, Lindsey found out that Rodni hadn’t shown up. Lindsey said: “I called her and texted her but she didn’t answer both times. When that happened, I knew something was wrong.” Lindsey said, “It was so out of character” that her daughter didn’t return her mother’s terrified messages, and she doesn’t think her daughter could have run away. The last person Rodni spoke to at the event was his friend Sami Smith. Smith said, “She was having fun at a party when she was a young teenager.” She said, “I drank everything she did and there wasn’t anything weird about her.” I didn’t think something like this would ever happen. Nobody did that in this town. Security video shows Rodni seen before he disappeared. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office posted an image on Facebook with the caption, “Detectives found security footage of a local store in Truckee where Kiely was last seen at 6:08pm on August 5 before disappearing.” Kiely was wearing a black one She was last seen wearing spaghetti strap bodysuit, green Dickies pants with a black grommet belt, and black Vans shoes. The caption read, “We’re still looking for leads that may lead us to Kiely.” We now have the sheriff’s email address. Anyone wishing to leave a message on our message line may do so by calling (530) 581-6320 and dialing option 7. At a recent press conference, bailiffs said they will not rule out any possibility. Even though there is no evidence of kidnapping, bailiffs said nothing could be ruled out. We won’t say no to anything. This is a case of people who have disappeared and need to be found.
