After the assassination of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, the Dark Brandon meme once again circulated around the internet.
For netizens, this was just the beginning, as the meme quickly gained popularity after Senate Democrats passed legislation on August 7 on tax policy, public health and a small step towards climate change. However, the party tweeted pictures of “Dark Brandon” and managed to stabilize the situation to promote their performances.

For a brief overview of how the “Dark Brandon” meme came about, see below: After an interview with racer Brandon Brown where the crowd heard yelling “F*ck Joe Biden” but the host got it wrong as “Let’s go, Brandon,” the slogan quickly gained popularity among Donald Trump fans.
The well-known meme features President Joe Biden’s visage with pupilless, bright red eyes while he giggles. It’s the darker side of the meme.

Conservatives, who frequently taunt and attack Biden’s government and portray a fake and evil Joe Biden as “Dark Brandon,” have appropriated the word for their own purposes.
Politico claims that the memes began circulating shortly after Joe Biden took office and have continued to do so ever since.
According to the Daily Beast, one of the most well-known memes features Biden on a throne filled with AK-47s and was created in China by an account supporting the Communist Party government there.

Recently, to poke fun at the failings of Democratic government, supporters of Make America Great Again (MAGA) have expanded the distribution and variety of Photoshop memes.
The meme spread across the internet to showcase the president’s fictional alter-ego as the administration struggled to respond to the Supreme Court’s recent Roe v. Wade decision and came under fire over high gas costs.

The Democratic press took advantage of the situation by exploiting the meme to highlight Biden’s recent accomplishments after noticing the rise of these memes.
White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates tweeted an image of the trending meme on Aug. 8 with the caption:
“Your nonsense has dragged on long enough, child.”

Rob Flaherty, the White House director of digital strategy, and Sen. Chris Murphy also jumped on board, posting photos of Dark Brandon to their social media accounts following the party’s recent win.

But this isn’t the first time Joe Biden-related memes have gone viral online. When Biden was Barack Obama’s vice president, humor website The Onion created a fictional character called “Diamond Joe” to portray him as a slacker who drove a Trans-Am and consumed alcohol.
When Joe Biden ran for the presidency, the meme resurfaced but failed to catch on.
