The exciting reality show Drink Masters on Netflix is a competition to find the best mixologist in the United States and Canada.
It brings together some of the best people in the business and puts them through a series of tests, each tougher than the last. As the competition standard is quite high, there is no room for error as one person will be eliminated after each challenge for not meeting the standard. At the end of the season, the top three contestants compete for a big cash prize and the coveted title of Drink Master.
From the start it looked like Montreal native Tao Zrafi would be a good candidate. Tao has a lot of experience preparing cocktails and other drinks, but he likes to add his own twist, which impressed the judges. But now that the cameras have been turned off, fans want to know where Tao is. Don’t worry because we have answers for you!
Drink Masters Journey by Tao Zrafi
You might be surprised bartenders or cocktails weren’t Tao Zrafi’s first choice for a job. He was born in Tunisia but became interested in interior design when he was 20 years old. He moved to Canada to pursue a degree in this subject. In the Great White North, Tao realized he had to make money, so he went to work as a bartender. Sources say the Tunisian had never tasted alcohol until he was 23. After that, he discovered that he enjoyed making cocktails and realized that this was his true calling in life.
After that, Tao didn’t wait long to change direction and he wanted to be one of the best. Tao said on the show that he was there to win and that he would only settle for perfection in himself. Most people immediately liked him because he was so nice and it was nice to see him making friends in the first episode. In the early challenges, the judges liked what Tao was doing. He never made it to the bottom, but he didn’t do anything that really impressed her either.
But when Tao realized he had to step up and perform, he brought up his best game and was crowned the winner in Episode 5. But the Tunisian didn’t stop there. He continued to deliver great performances and win challenges until the semifinals. Tao didn’t do as well in the semifinals, so she had to face Suzu in an elimination challenge. Still, he worked hard and finally made it to the final. He left the show third.

Where is Tao Zrafi right now?
Sources said that when Tao realized how much he loved bartending and making cocktails, he decided to gain as much experience as possible. So he worked in many bars in Canada and USA and even entered some competitions to get better. Over time he became well known in the industry and was even featured in some magazines.
The COVID-19 pandemic, on the other hand, has closed bars and restaurants across North America. However, Tao did not give up and began working as a consultant in the bartender industry. When the rules were less strict, he even set up pop-up booths, which made him even more popular. Tao, who describes herself as a “genderless fashion icon,” currently resides in Montreal, Canada.
Tao said he loves to travel the world and wouldn’t mind doing his job as a bartender in different places. He also owns Funk Populaire, a bar where he says he only serves “weird things.” Witnessing Tao’s rise to fame is at least inspiring. Since the Tunisian-born artist has said he’s “working on the next big thing,” we’d like to wish him the best of luck for that too.
Tao Zrafi makes drinks, helps bars with their programs and travels the world. If you’ve ever been to a popular Montreal cocktail bar, chances are you’ve had a drink from Tao. Tao moved to Canada from Tunisia when he was 20 to study interior design. He wanted to get out of his comfort zone and try something new, so he got a job at a bar. Tao didn’t try alcohol for the first time until he was 23. He quickly became interested in mixology and set out to become the best at what he did. Tao made a name for himself and found his own style by working in various restaurants and bars across North America and entering many competitions. With the pandemic putting many restrictions on bartenders, Tao decided to focus on consulting, sharing his knowledge, making pop-up bars, and pursuing his lifelong goal of opening his own cool bar. Keep your eyes peeled (and your taste buds ready) to see what Tao has next!
When using an egg white in a cocktail, be sure to top that delicious foam with ingredients that smell strong and enticing and make the drink better. While protein cocktails taste great, they tend to smell like wet dogs after a while. Don’t be afraid to spritz something strong, like a strong herbal liqueur or mezcal. Even ground spices can help mask this smell.
You can always find an “acid solution” at your local grocery store to keep in your fridge for a night of cocktails. If you don’t have citrus juice on hand, you can use a mixture of citric acid and malic acid in plain filtered water. For example: 1000ml water + 40ml citric acid + 20ml malic acid + 5ml salt. You can add food grade essences to the acidic water to make it taste better and more interesting.
When using carbonated shakers such as The Great Gentleman products with a shaken drink, after shaking, pour the soda onto the mixed drink in the shaker. Then pour the mixture into your glass of choice, adding more soda and ice if needed. Also known as “dirty pour,” this method prevents bubbles from forming on your drink and ensures all the ingredients are well mixed.
