After a freshman at Texas Christian University died in 2019 after being dragged off a boat while flirting, five Texas college students are now facing criminal charges.

A witness claimed she saw Jack Elliot fall from the bow of a 22-foot boat in October 2019 while they were flirting with Delaney Brennan, 21, on the waters of Lake Travis, a man-made lake northwest of Austin.

A jury found that some of those involved will be charged and brought to justice for their crimes, even if the case was settled privately in 2021.

In October 2019, Jack Elliott, a 19-year-old Texas Christian University student, was reportedly thrown from a boat while it was on a lake near Austin.

Carson Neel has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, a crime over alcohol allegedly going overboard. If found guilty, each defendant in Texas could face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Joshua Evans of Aliso Viejo, one of the youths on board, has been charged with a misdemeanor for serving alcohol to a minor. Elle Weber, on the other hand, was accused of lying to a police officer.

Carson Neel’s parents, Elle Weber and Delaney Brennan each declined to comment. While calls asking for comment for Caden Strauss, Joshua Evans and Anthony Salazar’s parents went unanswered.
