Shamar Alon Lark and Rashad Jamal May, two suspects, have been arrested in connection with the Mall of America shooting.
The two were caught on mall surveillance video fleeing a fight with four other people, in which Lark fired six bullets. There were no injuries as a result of the incident, which prompted shoppers to flee and the mall locked down.
Lark is now on parole after being involved in a shooting at SE 26th and Delaware Avenue in September. Lark left the scene of the encounter with another person before he was spotted in possession of a firearm. He was charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Within a year, a similar incident occurred at the Mall of America. On December 31, 2021, two people were shot and injured as a result of an altercation on the third floor of the mall.
Who are Rashad Jamal May and Shamar Alon Lark?
According to police, two suspects were reportedly arrested in Chicago after they fired shots at a busy Mall of America store last week.
The Chicago FBI Fugitive Task Force arrested 21-year-old Shamar Alon Lark and 22-year-old Rashad Jamal May during a traffic stop at around 2:25 p.m
Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges conducted a press conference on Thursday evening and Thursday night. After exiting a hair salon, they got into a car with another person behind the wheel.
Without incident, Lark and May were taken to prison. They are currently being processed for committal to the Cook County Jail in Illinois before extradition to Minnesota.
“We said a week ago that shooting in a mall and expecting to get away with it was unthinkable. If you want the privileges of a free society, you cannot engage in these actions,” Hodges commented. I really hope that after being held accountable for their actions, Mr. Lark and Mr. May get the help they need to change their lives.

Charges were also filed Monday against Denesh Raghubir, 21, of Minneapolis, Selena Raghubir, 23, of Bloomington, and Delyanie Kwen-Shawn Arnold, 23, of Burnsville. You are also responsible for helping the men exit the mall.
According to the allegations, May brought Lark’s car to the mall at 4 p.m. Thursday. It was transported to Bloomington Police Station after being left in the parking garage. Police found a holster and ID cards in the trunk of the car.
When authorities arrived at the scene of the shooting just before 4:20 p.m., they found three cartridges in the front door of the Nike store. According to security footage, a confrontation began before May and Lark left the store temporarily.
Lark returned and fired a pistol into the crowd. He pushed May out the north doors and into the Ikea parking lot, out of sight of the cameras.
The men were picked up by a Best Western shuttle at Ikea and taken to the southern hotel. The police questioned the bus driver Raghubir. The last time he saw her, he said he dropped her off and they smoked outside the motel.
Police learned that May called Arnold two minutes after the incident and that Arnold called her five more times between 4:20 p.m. and 4:23 p.m. after receiving a search warrant.
Arnold then called Selena Raghubir, the hotel’s assistant manager and his girlfriend, as well as the shuttle bus driver’s cousin. The couple ended up on the phone with May at 4:30 p.m
A car with Selena Raghubir’s license plate then follows the bus after being spotted picking up Lark and May at IKEA and dropping them off at the hotel’s back entrance ten minutes later.
