HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA: Tamiko Lashun Jones, Tony Eugene Lemon and Diamond Walton were caught in a July 11 robbery of a waffle house. Jones and Lemon are both from Marshall, Texas, and Walton is from Longview, Texas.
Hillsborough Police Department said Wednesday, July 13, that they apprehended the suspects with help from the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshals Service. Now all three suspects have been charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and defrauding an innkeeper.
Ahead of the arrest, Hillsborough Police Department issued a statement, which said: “At approximately 1:55 p.m. on July 11, officers from Hillsborough Police Department went to the Waffle House at 110 Daniel Boone St. Witnesses said that after the order One of the three suspects pulled out a gun and demanded that an employee give him the cash from the cash drawer. After the worker gave up, the three suspects drove away in two different cars.”
The next part of the press release, which contained more information about the theft, said: “One of the cars was said to be a silver sedan. The other car was said to be a Ford F-150 with dark red Texas license plates. Last seen, both cars were traveling north on Interstate 85. A black man and two black women were named as suspects.” Police also said that the last time they saw both cars, they were traveling north on I-85, which is just a block from Daniel Boone Street’s ramps Has. This is where the suspects were caught.
Police officials told the NY Post that the suspects were part of a family of six who went to the Waffle House in Shelby, North Carolina, for a meal before robbing it. Police officials said that after eating, Lemon pulled a gun and began demanding money from restaurant staff. Then he ran to the Daniel Boone Shell Service Center next door. After receiving the money, the three suspects drove away in two different cars, a burgundy Ford F-150 with Texas plates and a newer silver Ford Fusion sedan, also with Texas plates, witnesses said.
Police said Jones and Lemon were charged with similar crimes a few days before the Waffle House raid in Minden, Louisiana, and that they could be charged with additional crimes after this case. They are scheduled to appear in court in Orange County for the first time on July 26.
