American journalist and author Richard Engel is best known for his work as a top international reporter for NBC News.
On April 18, 2008, the author was appointed to this position after serving as the network’s Middle East reporter and bureau chief in Beirut.

What happened to Henry, his son?
One day, Henry Engel’s parents, Richard Engel and Mary Forrest, noticed that he was having problems with his cognitive and physical abilities. They later learned that their son Henry was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome in 2017 when he was just under two years old.
Apparently, Henry suffered from a severe genetic disorder with no known cure, which ultimately prevented him from developing.
In 2019, Engel wrote a personal essay about the emotional high he experienced after hearing his three-year-old say “Dada.”
When Henry was two years old and unable to communicate or clap his hands, the author and her wife realized something was wrong with their child.
On August 9th, Henry succumbed to Rett Syndrome and his family is asking for money to help them find a cure. On August 18, NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard announced the death of his 6-year-old son Henry.
