Miriam Nakamoto is a professional Muay Thai fighter and mixed martial artist from the United States. She fights in the bantamweight weight class.
In 2005, Nakamoto began pursuing Muay Thai professionally. Since then, she has won eight world championships in the sport. So far they have won all 16 games.

Miriam Nakamoto is one of the best forwards in the world for women. She has been doing both muay thai kickboxing and traditional boxing for more than 13 years and she is good at both. She has turned pro since 2005 and her Muay Thai record is 14-0.
Miriam appeared on the popular reality show Fight Girls in 2007. Later that same year, on August 12, Miriam had her first world title fight at the prestigious Queen’s Cup in Thailand. This was her chance to show off her skills. She easily won the WPMO World Title by beating her opponent in all five rounds and receiving a unanimous decision.
Two years later she competed in the IFMA World Championships. She competed against Rachida Hilali of Morocco, Jenni Andersson of Sweden and Katariina Perkkio, who won the 2009 European title. Each of these women had at least 25 Muay Thai fights and some of them even had 45. Miriam had 5 points when she entered the tournament. She won the entire division, beating Rachida Hilali of Morocco for the gold medal. She then received the trophy for best female boxer. Never before had an American received this award. She only had two weeks to prepare for this competition. (She had been asked to join the US national muay thai team to replace an injured player.)
Angela Rivera Parr is a legend in the sport of women’s Muay Thai and Miriam had the honor of fighting her in April 2010. The IMTA TBA world title would be held in Santa Monica, California. She beat Parr unanimously. At the end of a good 2010 she won the coveted WBC world title. She knocked out Claire Haigh of Luxembourg with a hard punch in the first round. Claire Haigh had the third best score in the world.
After Ms. Nakamoto missed all of 2011 due to surgery to repair her ACL, Ms. Nakamoto has come back strong. At the Legends Muay Thai event in San Francisco, California on April 28, she fought Sandra Bastian for the WMC Lightweight World Title. In the third round, Miriam ended the fight with an elbow cut.

Miriam switched to MMA in 2012, and in the second round of the second fight, she kneeled her opponent. At Invicta FC 5 on April 5, 2013, she fought Jessamyn Duke, a rising star in women’s MMA who had never lost before. This was her first fight for Invicta FC. The dispute ended in controversy. Nakamoto knocked Duke out with one knee to the head and then another knee while Duke was on his knees (an illegal shot in MMA). But referee John McCarthy stopped the fight and called it a knockout (KO).
Nakamoto was born in the US state of Hawaii and began training in Muay Thai at the age of 23. She later moved to California with her father and stepmother. Nakamoto’s great-grandmother came to Hawaii as a picture bride.

Although Nakamoto initially won by KO, the Missouri Office of Athletics changed the result to “no contest” over a month later because of an illegal knee.
For the next event, Invicta FC 6: Coenen vs. Cyborg, Nakamoto returned to Invicta FC. Miriam fought Duda Yankovich, a professional boxer. Nakamoto won via a technical knockout in the first round. He did this with a knee and punches. Again, Nakamoto was awarded the IFC: Knock out of the Night.
At Invicta FC 7: Honchak vs. Smith on December 7, 2013, Nakamoto fought Lauren Murphy, who had never lost a fight before, for the first Invicta FC bantamweight championship belt. When Nakamoto injured her knee in the fourth round of the fight, she lost.
