Alphonso Word claimed a pregnant woman would lie on her side. Investigators allege that at 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of South La Brea Avenue and Slauson Avenue, a female Mercedes driver collided with several vehicles, killing six victims and injuring eight others.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a fire reported at 1:41 p.m. near Slauson and La Brea Avenues.

She is believed to have been traveling at over 100mph in a 35mph zone. When the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived, the scene of the collision was just east of Ladera Park.

Six vehicles were apparently involved in the collision when a 40-year-old woman allegedly sped through the intersection and collided with oncoming traffic.

The motorist was traveling south on La Brea Avenue and collided with a car on Slauson Avenue before hitting another car and crashing into a gas station sign.

At least three of the vehicles caught fire after the accident. According to reports, Asherey Ryan, her unborn child and four other people died there.

A Mercedes driver has been arrested

A 40-year-old nurse has been arrested in connection with the horrific accident at Windsor Hills and is currently being held on vehicular manslaughter charges.

The woman, who is currently receiving medical attention at the hospital, was identified as the driver of the Mercedes-Benz that collided as it was speeding down La Brea Avenue toward Slauson Avenue at an estimated speed of 80 to 100 miles per hour.

According to two sources, she is assisting the California Highway Patrol investigation, and detectives are examining her blood work to determine if she was under the influence.

She will be officially charged by the Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office on Monday. When the coroner identifies the mother-to-be who died in the high-speed collision, the arrest takes place.
