Ruth Ann Casto, the mother of Billy Ray Cyrus, died on Friday August 12th.

Cyrus honored his mother by posting a picture of her holding a t-shirt with the cartoon character Snoopy hugging a heart. That’s what it says:

“Today my mother went to heaven. She should be there. She worked for it. She was what love was about.”

In the comments to the post, Billy’s fans and well-known entertainment figures shared their sorrow. Noah Cyrus, the singer’s daughter, also posted a picture of her grandmother from the past on her Instagram story.

The reason for Ruth’s death is not yet known. Perhaps you can learn more about her funeral soon.

Ruth Ann Casto hasn’t had the same fame as her son. She gave birth to William Clayton Casto and Mary Guila Boggs on May 14, 1937. She had two sisters, Carolyn Casto, and William Clayton Casto.

On August 1, 1952, she married Ron Cyrus and they had a son named Billy Ray Cyrus. They were married for 15 years before separating in 1966. Then, in 1970, Ron married Joan Marie Douthat.
