Desus Nice and The Kid Mero were the hosts of the late night discussion show Desos & Mero, which has now ended. The couple reportedly split to continue their separate projects, leading to the cancellation of the Showtime series. Essentially, the show’s fifth season will not air.

The series was created in 2019 by Dominican-American writer The Kid Mero (real name Joel Martinez) and Jamaican-American comic The Desus Nice (real name Daniel Baker) and will conclude after 170 episodes over four seasons.

“Our souls are connected. We could complete each other’s sentences. For example, it makes no difference if I’m on Jupiter and he’s on Mars as long as our Wi-Fi connection is stable. Physical proximity helps with physical humor, but jokes still land no matter what.

The two met as teenagers in the Bronx. They became friends by exchanging stories about their formative years, ’90s hip-hop and Yankees talk radio. Desus was a writer for a website about black entrepreneurship at the time of the meeting, and Mero was a teaching assistant. Before starting their podcast and eventual TV show, they started their online careers by sending amusing tweets.
