In season five of FOX medical show The Resident, when Dr. Kincaid Sullivan is shot, her father, Dr. Ian Sullivan, to Chastain Park Memorial Hospital to care for his daughter.

Kit Voss uses his sudden visit to hire Sullivan as Chastain’s new pediatric surgeon. In season six, we see how hard it is for Sullivan to live without prescription drugs since he can’t even work. In the third episode of season 6, Kit tells him not to have surgery for a week. This leaves viewers wondering if he will be released from the hospital at the end of the season.

Will Chastain Dr. Sullivan loose?

Cade told Conrad Hawkins that Dr. Sullivan was a drug addict, so Conrad Hawkins drug tested Chastain. Realizing he’s testing positive for benzos, Sullivan gives himself another medication so he can tell Kit and Cade that his benzos test was false positive. Kit tells him he has to take another test in a week. If Sullivan tests positive for benzos again in a week, it could hurt his career at Chastain. Kit probably doesn’t want a drug-addicted surgeon who puts his patients’ lives at risk. But that doesn’t mean he’ll definitely be fired immediately.

Even as Sullivan struggles with his drug addiction, the show can follow his journey as he deals with it in Chastain, with his daughter Cade and other supportive staff around him. Amy Holden Jones, who helped create the show, says Sullivan’s story is an important part of season six of What’s His Family Doing — when she finds out he has a problem that could put him in danger and patients too could bring danger?”

When Sullivan faces a big problem, Kit, Cade, Conrad and others are unlikely to abandon him. One thing we do know for sure is that Chastain’s doctors are always supportive of one another. We can expect the same to happen with Sullivan. Kit might give him a long break from work if that’s what he needs to get better and get surgery again. That would be better than firing him. Kit knows how important Sullivan is, not only because he’s one of the best surgeons in his field, but also because he can bring money to the hospital when times are tough. Maybe she doesn’t want to lose someone like that without giving them a chance to change.

Will Andrew McCarthy stop working on The Resident?

The idea that dr. Sullivan being fired by Chastain must have worried viewers about how dedicated Andrew McCarthy is to the show. But neither Andrew McCarthy nor FOX have said anything about the actor’s departure from The Resident. McCarthy went from a recurring cast member to a regular cast member prior to season six. That means the actor probably won’t leave the show after a few episodes. Even if Sullivan has to leave Chastain for good, or just for a while, his story could still be a part of what happens in season six.

Amy Holden Jones Says Cade Will Play a Big Role in Sullivan’s Season 6 Storyline Jones told TVLine in the same interview, “The journey of that family member who wants to save their other family member is really painful and heartbreaking, but it can also be hopeful.” “One of the themes of the season is who can and can’t be saved , because you can’t save everyone in a hospital or in life. How far would you go to save her? how can you help And most of the time at Chastain, our doctors will do whatever it takes to save a person,” she said.

Jones’ words suggest that rather than McCarthy suddenly leaving, Cade may see him try to help Sullivan quit drug use. Since this hasn’t happened in the story yet, we think McCarthy will most likely continue to appear in the medical drama.
