The long-awaited Prey, a prequel to the first Predator and its sequels, is now available on Hulu. The Predator Movie, which tells the origin story of the Predator and was released almost 35 years ago, is undoubtedly the best sequel.

Set in 1719, Prey tells the story of a hunter named Naru who sets out to earn the respect of her Comanche tribe. When she defeats an alien threat to her existence, she ultimately turns out to be her savior. The film makes reference to the venerable Predator series.

Will Naru, the hunter, become the predator’s prey?

Prey’s premise lies with Naru and her devoted friend Sarii. By introducing viewers to Naru as a skilled hunter who is routinely ostracized by her tribe for being a woman, the film quickly sets the mood and backdrop. Naru goes hunting to prove her worth, but encounters the predator, an unidentified creature.

The predator quickly begins to wreak havoc after being equipped with cutting-edge technology and superhuman abilities. Even if it means taking on the role of prey herself, Naru must take whatever measures are available to neutralize the threat.

The predator first targets Comanche hunters before moving on to the French traders who had captured Naru and her brother Taabe. While the predator attacks the French invaders, Naru and Taabe are able to escape. However, Taabe gives his life to save his sister and her dog, Sarii, when the couple confronts the predator.

Naru pursues the predator for revenge and after a few encounters learns how to defeat the alien. Now that she is aware of this, the predator will not attack unless it sees a threat. She takes advantage of this by chewing on an orange blossom, a medicinal herb, to cool her blood, making it difficult for the predator to recognize her as a threat.

How does Naru defeat the predator with the final blow?

After distracting the alien’s attention with another loot equipped with shooting technology, Naru is able to knock the helm off the creature. She then engages the beast in one-on-one combat while luring it into a mud hole.

When the beast manages to pull itself out of the swamp, Naru cunningly set the final trap that would kill it and baited itself. Eventually, after Naru dropped the helmet on the other side of the bog, the predator shot himself. It diverted the shot after realizing it was a threat.

Not only did Naru defeat the predator, but her entire tribe as well. She dismembers the creature’s head and returns it to her tribe. Peaking, Naru is definitely a sight to behold, covered in the predator’s grey-green fluorescent blood. Dropping her head at the chief’s feet, she demonstrates her skills as a warrior by rescuing her tribe.
